The prices are no different from what I can get if I go to the cinema?

Choovie provides its partner cinemas with guidance on what prices are best for what sessions, the cinemas choose whether they use this guidance or go with their own pricing. Also demand based pricing depends on demand, if it’s a low demand session it should be cheaper than the box office, if it’s a high demand session, it might be the same. Whether it’s a date, a break or a midweek treat, movies make our lives richer. Our airline-style dynamic pricing makes empty cinema seats cheaper, so that you can see more movies, for less.

What is dynamic pricing?

Dynamic pricing is a price model which changes based on real time supply and demand. If you’ve ever shopped for a plane ticket or a hotel room online, you’re probably familiar with the concept. Although many industries use a dynamic pricing model, it’s a relatively new concept to the golf industry but one which benefits the golfer in many ways, including great golf discounts and tee time deals for more flexible players. The City of Longmont Golf uses a combination of season, day, time, and weather to determine its online tee time prices.

How does dynamic pricing work?

Prices are determined based on a unique combination of factors, including the season, the day of the week, the time of the day, and the expected weather. If you’re a golfer who has some flexibility in your schedule, it’s typical that the highest prices will be in the early morning on Spring and Summer days when the weather is fair, but that they will trend downward the hotter it gets in the afternoon, or during colder seasons. For example, a fair Saturday morning at 8:30am in the summer will be more expensive than a hot Wednesday afternoon in the summer.

How do I get the best price?

Dynamic pricing discount golf rates will only be available for tee times booked online through (You can book your discount tee time now by clicking the buttons above and choosing the time and rate that works for you).

Can I still book my tee time over the phone or in person?

Of course! Keep in mind, though, that any tee times that are reserved over the telephone or in-person will be charged the rack rate and will not benefit from the dynamic pricing model.

What if I have a membership or punch card already?

If you are a member or have a punch card for our course, simply reserve your tee time online and pay upon arrival. We’ll make any adjustments necessary at the time of payment.

Can I use coupons when I come in to pay?

In general, our coupon restrictions are printed directly on the coupons, so check your coupon first. Most coupons are applied to the rack rate and cannot be used in conjunction with our online dynamic pricing tee time discounts. Check for coupons in the ValPak or Longmont Times-Call inserts.

Why dynamic pricing?

For industries that have static products, dynamic pricing doesn’t always make sense. But for industries that run on the calendar year, they only have a limited number of days and times to sell their product. For example, if a bed and breakfast is trying to sell rooms on a Wednesday night during low demand and only books 1 out of the 5 available rooms, come Thursday they will not have another opportunitity to recover that revenue for the entire year; the day and time is gone entirely. But if they price their rooms dynamically, a steep Wednesday ngiht discount might be just the thing to entice someone to book the room. Thus, they may not have paid full price, but with an expiring opportunity for operating revenue, selling 5 half price rooms is still a better deal than selling 1 full time room. This is why it makes so much sense for the golf industry, and for City of Longmont Golf. Sure, we’re offering a steep discount for those afternoon tee times, but we’d rather fill up our tee sheet than see the game unplayed due to low demand.

Wait a minute, doesn’t this mean some tee times will be more expensive?

Actually, because of the nature of golf prices and tee time expirations, you probably won’t notice a difference in the high demand tee times. While it’s possible high demand times might cost an extra couple of dollars, the new dynamic pricing model for Golf Longmont will be more of a promotion than a penalty.

In a move toward next-generation Express Lane traffic management, Plenary Roads Denver (PRD) presented an update to the High Performance Transportation Enterprise (HPTE) Board on Sept. 19, about its transition on the US 36 and I-25 Central (I-25 from downtown Denver to US 36) Express Lanes corridors from fixed time-of-day pricing to dynamic pricing.

As part of the transition, PRD is making some adjustments to time-of-day tolling rates. These adjustments will allow PRD to better manage traffic flow in the US 36 and I-25 Central Express Lanes during the transition, and calibrate the traffic to provide a baseline for the dynamic Express Lane pricing and implementation.

These small toll adjustments are helpful for the transition as they provide data for the development of parameters within the dynamic tolling algorithm. PRD expects to completely roll out dynamic pricing by 2020.

On average, rates are going up about 4 percent, mostly during peak travel periods. For instance, an eastbound trip at 7 a.m. from Boulder to Downtown Denver will be adjusted from $7.30 to $7.65. There are also adjustments during the peak travel time in which the rate will decrease. An 8 a.m. trip from Boulder to Denver will decrease from $8.35 to $8.30.

In one instance, based on increased traffic volume and dynamic pricing testing, PRD is extending the morning peak travel pricing from 8:45 a.m. to 9 a.m.

With dynamic pricing, Express Lanes rates would be continually adjusted according to real-time traffic conditions to maintain free-flowing levels of traffic. Toll rates would increase when the Express Lanes get congested and decrease when the Express Lanes are less full. This advanced technology helps to manage traffic flow through the Express Lanes and helps to maintain reliable travel times along the corridor.

What’s happening when prices surge?

Sometimes ride requests increase unexpectedly. Surge pricing is designed to restore the balance between driver availability and rider demand.

Rebalancing the marketplace

Surge pricing automatically goes into effect when there are more riders in a given area than available drivers. This encourages more drivers to serve the busy area over time and shifts rider demand, to maintain reliability and restore balance.
—–For drivers, it’s an incentive
Drivers are notified in the Uber app when demand increases through a map which shows the busiest areas and information about surge prices. The influx of drivers should mean there are more rides to go around.
—–For riders, it’s a premium
During surge pricing, fewer riders typically pay the premium. Rider demand decreases as some riders wait for more drivers to become available, and the marketplace rebalances.

Keeping it effective & accurate

Surge pricing works because it’s closely tied to the level of the marketplace imbalance. Here’s how we try to balance reliability for riders and drivers:
Surge pricing is automatically activated by algorithms that detect shifts in rider demand and driver availability, in real time, all over a city.
—–Real-time updates:
Because rider demand and driver availability change constantly, prices update every few minutes. Real-time updates help rider prices reflect supply and demand, and riders and drivers know what to expect.
——Hyper-local zones:
To optimize reliability, Uber maps every city into hyper-local zones — small hexagons a few city blocks wide. Each hexagon surges based on its real-time driver availability and rider demand. Our H3 global hexagon grid system, developed in-house and open-sourced, helps make price changes accurate and effective.

Additional factors

Current driver availability and rider demand are the primary inputs to surge pricing. But we also factor in forecasts about market conditions. Additionally, when circumstances warrant it — such as in major emergencies that impact public safety — our teams assess the situation and cap surge pricing in the area.

Why surge pricing?

Surge pricing is a relief valve for the ridesharing marketplace. Without it, when demand for rides exceeds the number of available drivers, riders would wait longer (or might not be able to get a ride at all). Drivers would have less incentive to accept requests in busy areas. Surge pricing helps restore balance to the network. By waiting a bit longer, riders can avoid the surge price.
